for the $430 price tag and with the updates to chromeos, i consider this a super value device as well as a powerhouse (again for my use cases). I know this isn't a super technical review but i have to say that this M3 device is exactly what i was looking for and it has far exceed expectations. (plus i figure i get the keyboard now to have it just in case they discontinue it and it's no longer available). i will continue to have it on my stand and use the keyboard detached b/c i need the tablet at closer to eye level to prevent neck strain. i just ordered the brydge g-type board to have but for me, i won't be resting the tablet on it. I tried it with a small foldable bluetooth keyboard and it worked great - i'm only returning it b/c the trackpad is too small. I hooked up a usb hub and connected it to my 32 inch desk monitor via hdmi and display was fantastic. video was crystal clear and absolutely zero stuttering/buffering/freezing issues. video chatting on google meet and skype were miles better than my old chromebook. i had full brightness on for the chat and was using bluetooth headphones. i wanted to test the drain so i charge it up full then have a video chat with 4 people on google meet for web and after 100 mins, it used about 29% battery. The biggest drain was a 1 hour 40 min video chat. i lose about 2-3% battery overnight in sleep mode (about 9-10 hours from when i turn it off at night to when i grab it the next day - i also let it sleep naturally, i don't turn it off via the button or power down). i made sure to set all the sleep modes on and to not use wifi when in sleep. i can't tell you exactly how many hours i've used it since it's off and on for multiple days but it can probalby go at least 2 days for me before charges. video playback looks great.īattery life has been excellent. Screen brightness i have to set at around 50% b/c it's so damn bright :) really good display. this is the first time i hooked up a keyboard/mouse combo so i can type this up and it's smooth sailing. i've used it in tablet mode and used my fingers for all interactions. no lags on loading pages and quick responses. stand makes it super easy for me to use on the couch or in bed.īrowsing has been super quick. it does weigh just a smidge more than i needed it to be 100% comfortable but i have it on this stand ( ) and it's worked phenomenal. This device has been everything i needed and more. i also opted to try the M3 instead of the I5 just to see if the lower end does work for me and whether i need to upgrade or not. and with the price point, it was worth a shot to try considering amazon's 30 day return policy. with the updates to chrome, it seems this device is now much better than initial release. So i finally decided on this device after multiple youtube videos and article studying. before i returned it though, i played around with it a little bit and i found the screen was just too small for me. upon receiving the item, the trackpad did not work. I ultimately purchased a lenovo duet to try it out. i was strongly looking at the pixelbook go but w/o the 2 in 1 form factor, i was hesitant b/c i wanted a tablet or a small footprint in bed. I was doing research for quite a while - at least 2 months - looking for an upgrade. The device also doesn't have a touchscreen.ītw, i'm a pure android guy - no apple in this house :) (i have about 175-200 mbps internet speed). it kept stuttering from time to time and sometimes freeze up altogether. i noticed the chromebook was having issues with skype (android app). it's served me well but once we all got locked down for quarantine and i'm working from home, the video chatting with friends has gone up 10000%. I was using an older 4gb celeron hp15 chromebook for the past 3 years. few android app usage (like for recipes, etc) video chatting through android app and web (skype, google meet) video streaming (youtube/netflix/other) browing websites and forums (at max i have 4-5 tabs open at once) i purchased this from amazon for $430 about a week ago and here are some quick thoughts on it so far. this is a quick review for the google pixel slate M3.
